Ms. Celina’s Nannu (grandpa) called all of his grandchildren, “buddy.” He was the happiest person and truly loved children. She has fond memories of her Nannu, and wanted to honor him and all he taught her about kindness and love by naming this childcare “Buddy Bridge.”

Buddy Bridge Child Care is owned and directed by Ms. Celina Gomes.

Ms. Celina started Buddy Bridge Child Care to offer a program for our youngest growers to play, pretend, learn and develop in an inclusive, anti-racist, and mindful environment. The child care serves children 4 months old to 5 years old. She believes we are never too young to explore and celebrate what makes us different and the same. Buddies learn about all the unique corners of our local and global world. Babies fall asleep to music from Belize and India. Toddlers create colorful costumes for Celia Cruz and collages inspired by Matisse. We eat delicious lentils and fresh veggies, and treat ourselves to homemade soups using Ms. Celina’s Maltese Nanna’s recipes. We read books from all over the world, and pay special attention to stories that take place right here in California.

Our Daily Rhythm is a template for our typical day. On some days, our morning could also include an outing to a local library or park. Weather and our buddies’ moods can affect the rhythm of our day. But, it will always include time for meals, play, and rest.

Ms. Celina plans themes and units of learning and discovery. However, as she says, “I’ll never let my plans get in the way of the children’s curiosity and exploration.” This means that our curriculum is child led, and we follow and dig into what our buddies are interested in, and what is bringing them joy!

Buddy Bridge is a warm, light filled space for infants and preschoolers to make discoveries, learn to share, develop gross and fine motor skills, and have fun!

Bridges connect land, neighborhoods, and cities so people can be more connected and have ease of travel. Just like the amazing natural and human made structures that bridge our world, this child care is a connector of people, concepts, and cultures.

Through Buddy Bridge, Miss Celina hopes to connect buddies to each other and the world around them.
